Man Who Got In Line At Keizer In-N-Out On Opening Day Finally Receives His Meal
In December of 2019, beloved California-based burger chain In-N-Out inched ever closer to Portland, opening its third Oregon location in Keizer. Its arrival produced a great deal of excitement, as metro area residents swarmed down on opening day.
We caught up with Wilsonville resident Doug Billson, who got in line 21 months ago to see if In-N-Out lived up to its mouthwatering reputation. “Everyone from my high school who has been to Disneyland said it’s the best burger they’ve ever had in their life,” remarked Billson. “Who wouldn’t be curious to finally eat the famous Double Double?”
Unfortunately for Billson, popularity comes at a price much higher than the $3.45 he paid for his burger. “When I arrived at the restaurant last December, I was stunned to see the line to order stretched past Cafe Yumm and Panda Express all the way down Lockhaven Drive – it was damn near out to the Willamette River! But I resisted giving in to the Orange Chicken. I stayed patient, and finally, just 647 days later, I received my meal. It was the best burger I’ve ever had in my life!”
“Well, actually I’ve had some pretty darn good meals at Burgerville with a much shorter wait,” he continued. “And they put too much Animal Sauce on my burger. Come to think of it, the fries were pretty mealy and had no flavor or crunch to them. There were off-putting bible verses on the wrappers and cups, and the staff had a creepy robotic cheer about them. But still, best burger I’ve ever had in my life!”
