Embarrassing! This 30-Year-Old Still Shops At Trader Joe’s
Trader Joe’s – our nation’s celebrated purveyor of quirky snacks, cheap wine and shrink-wrapped produce. At 503 locations around the country, patrons can enjoy TJ’s loquacious, tropically-clad staff and their self-branded cultural potpourri of offerings that span from ‘Philly Cheesesteak Bao Buns’ to ‘Vegetable Samosa Burritos’ to ‘Birthday Cake Hummus’, and everything in between. Perhaps no customer enjoys their whimsical offerings as much as 30-year-old Mountain Park resident Quinn Mathers.
“As a foodie and avid at-home chef de cuisine, Trader Joe’s is not just my market – it is my sanctuary,” gushed Mathers. “I always speak to the produce monger to see what seasonal abundance of unripe melons and precut vegetables wrapped in plastic they have recently sourced from local factory farms. Then, I carefully inspect the creative from-scratch spread in the frozen isle. I host my own supper club and always find everything I need for all the courses right here at TJ’s!“
Her dinner parties feature extensive ten course tasting menus with Charles Shaw wine pairings. One of her friends confirmed to The Scallion on background, “It’s painfully obvious that while we all outgrew shopping there years ago once we learned how to cook, everything she serves is from Trader Joe’s.”
Mathers says that she always has a seasonal spice blend used to permeate every dish she serves at each dinner party. When asked what aroma would flavor her upcoming tasting menu, she proudly replied, “Everything But The Bagel.“
