Powerball Winner Spends Entire $621 Lump Sum On Single Week Of Groceries At New Seasons
A Northeast Portland Plaid Pantry sold a record setting $1.3 billion dollar Powerball ticket last Saturday. It has now officially been claimed. Alouissius M. Flagbotterdink of Kenton chose to forgo an annuity paid over 30 years and instead took the lump sum which amounted to $621 million after federal and state taxes. Upon depositing his winnings, the freshly minted millionaire was finally able to achieve something he until now had only dreamed of.
He arrived at the Concordia New Seasons and got to work spending his newfound fortune. “It is really surreal, this sum of money,” Flagbotterdink said excitedly from the checkout line. “The amount of groceries I was able to get will last my family upwards of nine days. Produce, canned goods, fish counter, deli, I am truly a kid in a (organic, local) candy store right now. I still can’t afford to shop at Zupan’s, but I’m so blessed to try out New Seasons.”
When all was said and done Flagbotterdink had purchased nearly an entire cart of provisions and still had upwards of $14,000 leftover to take his two daughters out for ice cream at Salt & Straw. “I have just enough for one scoop for each of you, but don’t even think about getting a waffle cone. We don’t have the budget for it.”
