The Baker’s Mark Sells Out Of Subs Before Serving First Customer

The Baker’s Mark, has been pumping out delicious sandwiches on fresh baked bread for years at its two Portland Locations. Hungry patrons clamor to get a sub on their home-baked fluffy and crispy dutch crunch bread before they sell out for the day. This Friday, even early arriving customers were met with disappointment.

Hosford-Abernethy resident Reyna Adrianna was first in line when the doors for the Southeast Division location opened at 11 a.m. “I couldn’t wait to get my T.B.L.T. on Dutch crunch, so I hopped on my bike early to make sure I wouldn’t miss out,” she said. “Sometimes the online order form says they’re sold out, but if you walk in they’ve got sandwiches. I was truly shocked to find out that even though I was the first person in the door, they had already sold out.”

Vice President of Sandwich Operations at The Baker’s Mark, Clyde Clemmons, said that this fast sell out was a simple supply and demand issue. “Our ovens can only push out so many loaves per day, our chefs can only make so much homemade mustard…plus if we create scarcity, our customers feel even more special when they get their mitts on one of our sammies.”

We asked Adrianna if this incident would deter her from future trips to The Baker’s Mark. To which she replied. “I’ll get here even earlier tomorrow, these incredible sandwiches are worth overcoming any hurdle. The crew at Baker’s Mark gets up early every morning to make perfect little loaves for us, so I can also get up a little early to wait for one.”
