Tillamook Debuts New Line Of Hard Seltzer
Ever since White Claw took the world by storm two summers ago, more and more companies have been getting in on the exploding hard seltzer market. Many local breweries have launched their own lines, and more brands seemingly pop up by the day. Now, drinkers have a brand new savory option to choose from, and it comes from the unlikeliest of sources: Oregon’s cheese behemoth, Tillamook.
Starting this week, grocery stores around Oregon will begin carrying three varieties of Tillamook hard seltzer: Medium Cheddar, Sharp Cheddar, and Extra Sharp Cheddar, the latter of which contains a whopping 11% alcohol by volume.
“Our cheeses are wildly popular all over the country,” asserted Tillamook’s Senior Director of R&D Steve Marko. “It’s only natural that we bring three of our flagship products into the rapidly-growing hard seltzer market. Our customers often eat cheese as an accessory to their alcohol, and we thought, ‘why not put them together at once?’ When our food scientists created the final product our minds were blown. It’s a little early to say for sure, but I predict it’s gonna be a cheddar girl summer.”
