Cali Transplant Wondering When It’ll Be Bikini Weather At Oregon Coast

Oregon’s 363-mile-long coast welcomes hundreds of thousands of tourists every summer. Spanning from Astoria to Brookings-Harbor, its soft sand, titillating tide pools and whooshing waves mesmerize young and old alike. As longtime Oregon residents head to their favorite coastal spots, folks who recently moved to the Pacific Northwest want in on the action. ⁣

“What am I most looking forward to?” asked Tonia DeVore. “Probably playing some beach volleyball. Maybe cruising the pier.” The 25-year-old Santa Barbra native moved to Portland in November and was en route to Cannon Beach for her first Oregon Coast experience. “I also like beachside skate parks and outdoor gyms – I’m sure they have those here, right? After a long, hard winter, nothing sounds better than crushing Claws with my squad at the lifeguard tower, hitting the waves for some surfing and then laying out in my new bikini and getting bronzed in the sweltering Oregon sun.“⁣

DeVore arrived at the coast and drove straight onto the beach, just like she’d seen on Instagram. She opened her car door and immediately got a faceful of sand, courtesy of 25 mph winds. Dressed in only a two-piece bikini, she was alarmed to learn that the forecast only called for partial sun and a high of 53 degrees. ⁣

“What the coastal fuck is going on!” exclaimed DeVore, remembering that the only other layer she brought was a sarong. “I’m sorry, I thought this was the Pacific Ocean. Is it not June? When is bikini season supposed to start?“⁣
