Report: Portland Moms Have Got It Going On
The Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies have descended on downtown Portland. Armed to the teeth, their presence has exacerbated the violence already being exercised nightly by city police. Portland’s mothers do not tolerate such behavior, and when mom gets mad, you know you messed up.
When federal agents joined PPB and began attacking peaceful protesters last night, a wall of moms linked arms, joined the front lines, and sternly counted to three.
“We are here in solidarity with our fellow Portlanders who have taken to the streets for 53 straight days,” declared mother of two and grandmother of one Jeannie Langford. “We are taking a stand against suppression of free speech, against police brutality, and in support of justice and Black lives.“
Early Monday morning, video emerged of agents launching an assault on moms – including at least one visibly pregnant woman – using teargas, pepper balls, batons and impact munitions. Far from acting as a deterrent, the utterly chilling footage prompted Portland’s brave mothers to return Monday night in even greater numbers. Their message is clear: law enforcement needs a timeout.
