Fiancée Just Wants To Know Whether Her 2024 Wedding Date Is Safe
Mt. Tabor resident and bride-to-be Deb Garfield has already postponed her wedding twice. Her 2020 dates were untenable due to the pandemic and she is currently in the process of changing her current date of July 10th, 2021 to July 14th, 2024. She is humbly hopeful that she can finally do the deed a mere three years from now.
“I’ve had so much practice, I can now get my entire wedding postponed in a matter of hours,” said Garfield. “All of our amazing vendors have been really kind and accommodating. I just hope that they will still be in business by the time we finally get to tie the knot. Our original wedding invitations were delivered via carrier dove. Round two featured Arabic calligraphy on handmade paper. For our third date, we reached back to our middle school days and employed a phone tree with our wedding party as captains. Now we’re just sending out a massive group text. Guests who have Androids are on their own.“
When asked whether she thought 2024 was a safe bet for the United States to be over Covid, Garfield remained unsure. “Dr. Fauci will be 83 by then and you’ve gotta think the Novavax vaccine will be at, or at least nearing, FDA approval. If we are still wearing masks at that point, our florist has agreed to make some custom ones for my bridal party. I’ve instructed the DJ to only play ‘Shout’ if our guest’s droplets are no longer dangerous. We also cut a special version of ‘Cha Cha Slide’ that features Covid-friendly instructions like ‘slide six feet to the left!’ and ‘everybody wash your hands!’ We’ll save a lot of money if we can do our dinner buffet style, so I’m still holding out hope that the CDC clears those to come back by 2024. If not, our venue said that delaying until 2025 is always an option.“
