“We Are Touched By Your Kindness, Please Continue To Leave Snacks For Us, Your Beloved Essential Workers,” Announce Local Raccoons
Life during Covid-19 has forced virtually everybody to face previously unimaginable hardships. And yet, humanity is rising to the occasion by meeting adversity head-on with acts of kindness and generosity. One such act that has proliferated on doorsteps all across the country is leaving snacks out for postal workers and delivery drivers.
“It’s a true blessing when a house sets snacks out for us essential workers,” said three-year-old raccoon Elvis Pennywhistle. “With so many restaurants closing, it’s been hard to scavenge enough dumpster scraps for me and my family. Humans sure are thoughtful.“
One such thoughtful human is Westmoreland resident Beth Ronson, who lives a block away from the Pennywhistle den. “I used to keep my box of snacks covered, but nobody took anything! The poor Amazon workers were in such a hurry that they couldn’t even take the time to remove the lid. Ever since I stopped covering it my snacks have been a hit – those workers must be so hungry, they just rip open the packaging with their teeth!“
