Multnomah Falls Turned Off Due To Government Shutdown
The federal government has shut down after lawmakers in Congress failed to reach an agreement on how to extend funding. As the standoff continues in Washington, the impact of the shutdown is beginning to be felt across the country, including at one of Oregon’s most notable landmarks.
The federal government funds the water bill that keeps the beautiful Multnomah Falls flowing. This means that until congress can pass their budget, the spigot for the falls will be turned off. Visitors can still park and walk around the grounds, however there will be no water feature, and the gift shop and restaurant will also be closed.
Other public places in the gorge to close due to staffing furloughs include the rooster rock nude beach and the salmon hatchery. Folks and fish who rely on these places to expose their sex organs will have to look elsewhere until the government can come to an agreement.
