Iced Over Roads No Match For Dude In ’07 Prius
Portland drivers have been dealing with sub-freezing temperatures since late last week, and have mostly heeded the warnings of local officials to stay home. Local bus routes have experienced delays and all MAX service has been disrupted. When necessity called however, some residents ventured out in their four-wheel drive vehicles – some with chains – for groceries, to go to work, or to go to a friend’s house with power.
When cautiously hitting the treacherous streets, motorists were surprised to see that the only cars on the road were not snow-ready Subarus, or powerful lifted trucks, but were instead all sedans – Honda Civics, Hyundai Sonatas and of course, Toyota Prii. The drivers of these compact, two-wheel drive vehicles were operating above the posted speed limits and cornering without a care in the world. As the city begins to thaw, one can only hope that the small car reign of the roads will be curbed.
