Greedy, Money-Grubbing Teachers Demand Livable Wage
Portland Public Schools’ teachers have been on strike since last week. Bargaining talks continue to take place as students remain home until a deal is reached.
Covetous local educators continue to make unreasonable demands such as increased salaries and smaller class sizes, as well as expanded mental health support for students and improved building safety.
District leaders extended an olive branch on Tuesday, offering one mug per staff member inscribed with the words, “I’m a teacher, what’s your superpower?” while keeping wages stagnant. They also offered to curb the number of rodents in schools by 20%, still quite far from the 100% vermin reduction asked for by teachers.
“We need our best to teach the next generation. There’s no way PPS can attract great educators, or even keep the ones they currently have with the meager compensation they currently provide,” said geometry teacher Fritz Burghardt, holding one of the fifteen homemade signs he made using markers that he paid for himself. “In this district, us teachers are all too used to spending our own money on construction paper, markers and paint.”
