Zupans Salutes Their Sommelier Heroes Providing Essential Wine Advice
While many able Americans are entering month number six of COVID-19 lockdown, a large portion of the workforce doesn’t have the luxury to work from home. From nurses to gas station attendants, brave frontline workers are keeping the economy going. This week Zupan’s took a moment to thank their own essential staff.
“It takes courage and moral fortitude to work in a public space during these unprecedented times,” declared CEO Mike Zupan. “That’s why we want to take this time to salute our brave sommelier staff. Our millionaire and billionaire patrons rely on them to offer recommendations on the perfect pinot grigio for a charcuterie board, which rosé is ideal to furnish their daughters’ prom group, and whether a merlot or a zinfandel pairs better with their antidepressants. The wine cellars in our customers’ chateaus and villas are now stoked thanks to these heroes.“
Mr. Zupan thanked his wine staff in true grandiose fashion. First they received a feast of nearly expired meats and cheeses in the break room. Next they were gifted a hand written sign above their service area. Finally, as a token of gratitude, and instead of any financial compensation, Zupan left his castle in the Southwest Hills and gave each sommelier a firm handshake.
