The treacherous conditions on Everest – which is three times taller than Mount Hood – have led to numerous casualties over the years. I pray for the recovery of the young man shot in the head under my watch, just like I prayed for the men and women injured while ascending the world’s highest peak.

“I had help when summiting ‘Chomolungma’ (Everest in Tibetan). The team of local Sherpas helped get me to the top of the world’s highest mountain. Similarly, our team of PPD officers (Ted Wheeler) need a little help from federal officers (my team of sherpas) to keep things calm at the Justice Center (Mount Everest, which I summited).“
