“It’s Seven O’Clock Somewhere,” Announce Toddlers Banging On Pots At Crack Of Dawn

Jim and Carol Merino were shaken from their slumber early Thursday morning by the sound of pots and pans being enthusiastically banged together. “What’s going on?” remarked Carol, rising to check on the chaos. Upon arriving in the kitchen she was greeted by the sight of her two boys Gavin and Jacob excitedly wailing on the kitchen pots. ⁣

“What are you doing?! It’s 5:49 in the morning!” screamed Carol, infuriated. “We’re saluting the nurses,” said Gavin proudly. “It’s seven o’clock somewhere!” ⁣

Carol immediately regretted participating in the nightly display of solidarity. The armchair activism she had for so long encouraged had backfired; her boys’ cacophony was being sent to the brave hospital workers 14 hours ahead in Jakarta, Irkutsk, and Bangkok. ⁣

Carol thought of the heroic healers in the Western Indonesia time zone. Who was she to deny them a show of support? “OK, that’s nice of you boys, thanks for helping out. They really needed that,” she said, turning on the kettle.⁣
