Service Pug Just Hyperventilates More When Owner In Need

It is an undisputed fact that all dogs are good dogs. Far less certain, however, is whether all dogs are good service dogs. Breeds like the German shepherd and golden retriever are generally thought to be the best suited to undergo the rigorous training required for a lifetime of duty.⁣

This conventional wisdom was lost on Jerry Conley, who insisted on service pug Mister Snugglesworth. On Sunday afternoon, Conley suffered a stroke in his Dunthorpe home, which was fortunately full of his family members enjoying the Holidays. While Conley was quickly treated and discharged from Legacy Meridian Park hospital, Mister Snugglesworth remains under veterinary supervision at Dove Lewis until his anxiety levels drop from a ‘10’ to his usual ‘8’.⁣

Conley’s daughter Elizabeth brushed aside concern over her father, lamenting that “he’s fine, but he needs a proper service dog. When dad collapsed, Mister Snugglesworth started hyperventilating and choking on his own saliva. He tried to run and get me, but didn’t realize that I was already in the room. He took about five steps, ran into the counter, and just laid there in a daze until the ambulance showed up.“⁣
