Winter CSA Box Entirely Turnips
Sean Montrosse and his partner Joe Pavlović just received their first ever CSA box, giddy with anticipation after spending all spring and summer enviously watching their friends cook up myriad dishes with their bountiful and varied boxes.
“Companies are mass produce-ing the veggies we eat every day,” lamented Montrosse as he opened their long-awaited box. “It’s just so important to give our money to literal grass roots organizations that promote sustainability and biodiversity in our local economy.
Upon opening their box, they were greeted with upwards of two dozen turnips. “I was hopeful for some kale, carrots, brussels sprouts or at least rutabagas,” said Pavlović sheepishly. “At least there’s this recipe card. Who knew turnips could be used in so many ways?“
As of press time, Montrosse and Pavlović had made turnip tacos and a turnip salad, utilizing approximately 6% of their bounty.
